The photo above shows 134 Metropolitan Avenue (the middle building with the for rent sign) in Williamsburg. According to a post on the website Bedford and Bowery, Steve Rosenthal and Jennifer Gilson, the owners of The Living Room, are seeking to reopen their venue there. Bedford and Bowery reported that Steve and Jennifer met with the SLA Committee of Brooklyn Community Board 1 back on February 6th seeking approval for a liquor license. The Committee heard some testimony about how The Living Room has conducted itself in the past but was concerned about smoking and noise issues. It asked The Living Room owners to show more support from area residents before it would approve their liquor license application.
The proposed location is on the same block as Nitehawk Cinema and Skinny Dennis Bar, and not all that far away from music venues Trash Bar and The Grand Victory. Pictures of the building’s interior on the website Zillow show that the space is set up to be a bar and restaurant, although not in move-in condition. Now I’ve Heard Everything will continue to follow this story.
