Here are a few photos taken at shows over the past few weeks. Some of them were posted on Instagram while the shows were happening. So don’t forget to follow @nowiveheardeverything there too.
Tonight provides three shows, all just steps away from the corner of 11th Street and Avenue A, all at seated venues and an evening which starts early. At 7:30pm, Now I’ve Heard Everything favorite Megan Reilly will play The Hi-Fi Bar. This show is the first one for Megan in a while. Megan’s last record, The Well, was flat out wonderful. Originally from Memphis, Megan has lived in both New York City and Philadelphia before settling in suburban New Jersey. Of course none of that tell you about Megan’s music. Call it rock with a psychedelic tinge and Megan’s ethereal vocals. Real rock, no acoustic guitars or stand up basses here.
Once Megan’s set is over, go out the door, cross the street and walk east on 11th Street to the 11th Street Bar. You’ll find Freddie Stevenson there at 9pm. Freddie’s original music has a little bit of everything in it including folk and English music hall. Freddie is an engaging performer. He’ll be leaving New York City soon for a sojourn in Chicago, so take this opportunity to catch him.
Once Freddie finishes around 10pm, it will be the turn of folk-rocker James Maddock. This time out it will be James solo. You are likely to hear songs from James’ large catalog (Sunrise on Avenue C, Wake Up and Dream, Another Life and The Green) and from his album with the band Wood (Songs from Stanford Hill). And its quite likely that both James and Freddie will be musically assisting each other.
Megan Reilly, Hi-Fi Bar, 69 Avenue A between 10th and 11th Streets (Any train to 14th Street or L Train to 1st Avenue, then transfer to the 14 A bus to 11th Street), 7:30pm, No Cover (but a contribution for the musicians is highly recommended)
Freddie Stevenson (9pm), James Maddock (10pm), 11th Street Bar, 510 E. 11th Street between Avenues A &B (Any train to 14th Street or L Train to 1st Avenue, then transfer to the 14 A bus to 11th Street), No Cover (but a contribution for the musician is highly recommended)
Check out tonight’s edition of The Radigan Roundup. This show is run by Terry Radigan on Sundays at Park Slope’s 12th Street Bar and Grill. As usually, Terry will play a short set and is joined tonight by Heather Eatman, Paul Foglino, Arum Rae, Anna Kaye and Irakli Gabriel. In addition, also dropping by to sing a few songs will be Alex Battles and Shaky Dave, and Freddie Stevenson.
At the Roundup, the music is usually stripped down and things are loose and spontaneous. Things will get going tonight at 7:45pm, but getting to The 12th Street Bar and Grill early for a seat (the place is on the small size) is not a bad idea.
The Radigan Roundup with Terry Radigan, Heather Eatman, Paul Foglino, Arum Rae, Anna Kaye and Irakli Gabriel, Alex Battles and Shaky Dave, and Freddie Stevenson, 12th Street Bar and Grill, 1123 8th Avenue – enter on 12th Street, Park Slope (F or G Trains to 7th Avenue, use the 8th Avenue exit), 7:45pm, No Cover, (but a contribution for the musicians is highly encouraged)
Update: Start time moved to 7:30pm!
The back area of The 11th Street Bar has hosted any number of wonderful shows over the years. Leslie Mendelson, Freddie Stevenson and Julia Haltigan all played there regularly in years past (they all still play there, too, just not regularly anymore). There’s still music at The 11th Street Bar nearly every night. And tonight is no exception.
The show will start at 9pm. Playing are Ana Egge and Mike Ferrio and Good Luck Mountain. The stock in trade for both Ana and Mike is Americana. I’ve seen Ana play in any number of configurations, from full band to solo, but I’m not sure in what format she will be playing tonight. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Mike play, and I think that last time I saw him, he was playing with his previous band (Tandy). Even so, both these musicians are well worth catching.

A few more shows this week.
