It’s not the usual sleepy August Sunday; there are four shows for you to choose from tonight. Let’s look at what’s happening.
Over at The Rockwood Music Hall at 8pm, you’ll find Aly Tadros. Aly plays Americana, folk rock and folk, and her Sunday night shows at The Rockwood Music Hall over the past few months have always been a treat. If you stick around The Rockwood Music Hall after Aly’s set, you find Andi Rae and The Back River Bullies. Andi and the band play folk rock and Americana and don’t play often enough, so take this opportunity to catch them.
Also at 9pm, but over in Brooklyn, Jim Campilongo and his new band Honeyfingers will take over the back room at Park Slope’s Barbes for a few hours. In addition to Jim, tonight Honeyfingers includes Jonny Lam on steel guitar, Luca Benedetti on guitar, Roy Williamson on guitar, Dave Speranza on bass, and Nick Anderson on drums.
Back in the East Village on the corner of Avenue A and 2nd Street, you’ll find the duo version (Elena Skye and Boo Reiners) of The Demolition String Band playing the Treehouse at 2A. Elena and Boo can play and sing a wide spectrum of songs and range from rock, country and bluegrass. This set gets going at 10pm.
