Mink Deville was one the the bands playing CBGBs in the mid 1970s. Hardly what you would call punk, Mink Deville blended soul, R&B, rock, and blues. Their first two albums, Cabretta and Return to Magenta, got played a good bit on WNEW-FM back then. When the band broke up, lead singer Willy DeVille kept on going until he died back in 2009.
Last night, I was in a restaurant when Mink Deville was played over the sound system. Later when I came home, this video, for Spanish Stroll, showed up on my Facebook feed. OK, I can take the hint.
