Karla Rose and The Thorns is the new name for Now I’ve Heard Everything favorite Karla Moheno. Her songs draw on a diverse set of influences including noir, 60s girl groups, a bit of country and some show music. This melange served up by Karla and her band contains many familiar flavors presented in unexpected ways. And as my colleague at The New York Music Daily has noted, there is a definite Twin Peaks vibe running through Karla’s music. If you have yet to check out Karla Rose and The Thorns, this is a great show to catch; Rockwood Stage 2 is a great place to see a show. However this is a school night and Karla and the band will hit the stage at Midnight, so I get that this might not work for everyone.
Karla Rose and The Thorns, Rockwood Stage 2, 196 Allen Street between Houston and Stanton Streets (F Train to 2nd Avenue, use the 1st Avenue exit), Midnight, No Cover (but a contribution for the musicians is highly recommended)
