SXSW 2016: Monday’s Box Score

Bleached - SXSW 2016 Tuesday

Every day during SXSW 2016, I’ll be providing a “box score” listing the bands I saw the preceding day.  And befitting something so named, I’ll also let you know if there were any big hits (or any errors).  I arrived in Austin yesterday afternoon.  I got settled in my hotel and then last night eased into SXSW by seeing three bands.

Band Comments
Polica Indie post rock four piece band which consists of a vocals, bass, two sets of drums and keys. Some of their songs were quite catchy but some just didn’t work.
Bleached Three female vocalists who play bass and guitar with a male drummer. Someplace between punk and raw but frequently melodic rock.  A hit!!
Thao and the Get Down Stay Down
Indie pop.  Thao herself is infectiously peppy but the band’s songs meander too much and ultimately they are not for me.
