There are two shows tonight at The Rockwood Music Hall that are worth checking out. At 9pm, Luan, a new project with Julia Haltigan, will play a set at Rockwood Stage 2. The name of the band is the Gaelic word for moon. Luan incorporates some modern day Irish influence in its music, but expect to be rocked, with Julia’s signature brassy vocals are front and center. In addition to the band’s original music, you’ll get some inspired covers as well.
A bit later and next door at the original stage of The Rockwood Music Hall, at 10pm, it will be time for David Luther and The Free Alternatives. David’s main instrument is the saxophone (as you may note in the photo above), which he has called rock n roll’s original lead guitar. I would expect originals, old soul and funky stuff at tonight’s show. Joining David in the band tonight will be Danny Fox (piano), Jamie Bishop (bass), and Jordan Perlson (drums).
