Tonight: East Village Triple Header

Megan Reilly

Tonight provides three shows, all just steps away from the corner of 11th Street and Avenue A, all at seated venues and an evening which starts early.  At 7:30pm, Now I’ve Heard Everything favorite Megan Reilly will play The Hi-Fi Bar.  This show is the first one for Megan in a while.  Megan’s last record, The Well, was flat out wonderful.  Originally from Memphis, Megan has lived in both New York City and Philadelphia before settling in suburban New Jersey.  Of course none of that tell you about Megan’s music.  Call it rock with a psychedelic tinge and Megan’s ethereal vocals.  Real rock, no acoustic guitars or stand up basses here.

Freddie Stevenson Bowery Ballroom

Once Megan’s set is over, go out the door, cross the street and walk east on 11th Street to the 11th Street Bar.  You’ll find Freddie Stevenson there at 9pm.  Freddie’s original music has a little bit of everything in it including folk and English music hall.  Freddie is an engaging performer.  He’ll be leaving New York City soon for a sojourn in Chicago, so take this opportunity to catch him.

James Maddock - Nearest Thing to Hip

Once Freddie finishes around 10pm, it will be the turn of folk-rocker James Maddock.  This time out it will be James solo.  You are likely to hear songs from James’ large catalog (Sunrise on Avenue C, Wake Up and Dream, Another Life and The Green) and from his album with the band Wood (Songs from Stanford Hill).  And its quite likely that both James and Freddie will be musically assisting each other.
