Tonight: Courtney Lee Adams Jr. at Hi-Fi and The After Party at Rockwood Stage 2

Choices Large

Here’s an early-late combination of shows.  At 8pm at Hi-Fi Bar, in the East Village on Avenue and 11th Street, you’ll find Courtney Lee Adams Jr.  Courtney’s songs are world weary and wise.  I think that the music of Tom Waits might be a good comparison.  But Courtney is less jarring, more tuneful and just more fun than Tom.

Later, on the Lower East Side, the latest installment of The After Party will commence at 11pm on Rockwood Music Hall’s Stage 2The After Party is the latest in a line of shows at The Rockwood in which a large number of musicians get together and cover songs belonging to a given year.  Rumor has it that tonight’s year is 1996.  The After Party is scheduled to go late.  Yes, I know that even though today is a holiday, it’s a school night.  But if you are lucky enough to be able to stay out late, The After Party is always fun and surprising.

Courtney Lee Adams Jr., Hi-Fi Bar, 69 Avenue A between 10th and 11th Streets (Any train to 14th Street or L Train to 1st Avenue, then transfer to the 14 A bus to 11th Street), 8pm, No Cover (but a contribution for the musician is highly recommended)

The After Party, Rockwood Stage 2, 196 Allen Street between Houston and Stanton Streets (F Train to 2nd Avenue, use the 1st Avenue exit), 11pm, No Cover (but a contribution for the musicians is highly recommended)
