Freddy’s Bar stands in Brooklyn in Greenwood Heights. Sometimes it gets called the South Slope, but that’s usually when a real estate type wants to justify the rent. But whatever you call the neighborhood, Freddy’s Bar has a good show tonight. And Freddy’s is a real comfy place with a large room for music.
Up at 10pm, will be Andi Rae and The Back River Bullies. Andi Rae and the band play their original Americana and folk rock with verve and energy. They have a good new CD, titled If You Want to Be My Man, and I’m sure they will be playing songs from it, and stuff from their catalog as well.
Then, at 11pm, Alex Battles and The Whisky Rebellion will take the stage. Alex writes country songs about life, particularly songs about life in New York City (if you’ve never heard You Live in Queens, check it out here). A full band show for Alex and company is more infrequent than it should be, so take the opportunity to see this one.
