Tonight: Aaron Lee Tasjan at The Slipper Room or Joe Whyte at Rockwood Music Hall

Choices Large

Here are two shows down the block and around the corner from each other.  Perhaps they will time out so that you can see both of them.  At least I hope that it works that way.

Update: Someplace along the way, Joe’s show got moved to 8pm, so these shows are now directly opposite each other. Rats!!

Up first is Aaron Lee Tasjan.  Aaron’s a great songwriter and guitar player. He’s been on the road lately, not only playing with The Mastersons but also with such guitar greats as Chuck Prophet and Steve Wynn.  Aaron is in town to play the CD release show for his first full length solo record, In the Blazes.  If you’ve seen Aaron before, you know that he offers up Americana with a blend of keen insight, humor and word play.  NPR has recently featured one of Aaron’s songs.  Tonight’s show is with a full band and it gets going at 8pm.

Then at 9pm Also at 8pm, Joe Whyte will hit the stage at The Rockwood Music Hall.  Joe plays alt country and Americana and his last record, When the Day Breaks, sounds good to me.  Tonight, as has been the case lately, Joe will playing with a full band.  Since it’s been a few months since Joe last played in NYC, I would not be surprised if he has a few new songs up his sleeve too.
