Karla Rose and The Thorns is the new name for Now I’ve Heard Everything favorite Karla Moheno. Her songs draw on a diverse set of influences including noir, 60s girl groups, a bit of country and some show music. This melange served up by Karla and her band contains many familiar flavors presented in unexpected ways. And as my colleague at The New York Music Daily has noted, there is a definite Twin Peaks vibe running through Karla’s music. If you have yet to check out Karla Rose and The Thorns, this is a great show to catch. The show is early; Karla and the band will hit the stage at The Mercury Lounge at 7pm. It’s perfect for those who have to get home at a reasonable hour.
