Here are three shows for you to choose from tonight. First up, at 6pm at the original stage of The Rockwood Music Hall, is Xavier Cardriche. Xavier’s music is Americana and alt country. This very early show is great for those of you who would like to see some music but still be home in time to see the Mets take on the Cubs.
There is also a fine double bill starting at 8pm at Hi-Fi Bar, up on Avenue and 11th Street. Opening will be Courtney Lee Adams Jr. Courtney’s songs are world weary and wise. I think that the music of Tom Waits might be a good comparison. But Courtney is less jarring, more tuneful and just more fun than Tom. Later, So Are We, a duo version of the science of the brain based band The Amygdaloids will play as well.
Finally, Bucky Hayes and The Commonwealth will play at The Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 starting at 9:30pm. You name it, Bucky can do it, and if you name a local musician, it’s likely that Bucky has played with him or her. Bucky’s stock in trade is Americana with a dash of soul thrown into the mix. Bucky’s a very good songwriter and an engaging performer.
