Tonight: Dear Georgiana and Michaela Anne at The Living Room

Dear Georgiana Mercury Lounge 5-18-15

For a while now, Sunday seems to be one of the most interesting nights of the week for music.  Tonight is no exception, with a great doubleheader in store for us at The Living Room in Williamsburg. Tonight’s shows will end at at a pretty reasonable hour, so the fact that this is a school night should not get in the way.

First up at 8pm is Dear Georgiana.  Call their music atmospheric folk-rock that’s melodic with very nice vocals.  Dear Georgiana is led by Lauren Balthrop, who also plays in Elizabeth and The Catapult.  Elizabeth Ziman frequently joins Dear Georgiana as well, and may be part of the band tonight.

Michaela Anne

Then at 9pm, Michaela Anne will take the stage of The Living Room.   Michaela is an Americana and alt country singer-songwriter who has been a favorite here at Now I’ve Heard Everything for a while now.  Last year, she released a wonderful album, Ease My Mind.  Even The New York Times listened up and took note of her.  And Michaela has her NYC band back with her on this one.  That band includes Jeff Malinowski, Amal Bouhabib, David Lizmi, Nick Kinsey and Philip Sterk (the Hendrix of the pedal steel).  Since Michaela is now based in Nashville, her shows her are fewer than they had been.  So take this opportunity to see her now and your ear will thank you later.

Dear Georgiana (8pm), Michaela Anne (9pm), The Living Room, 134 Metropolitan Avenue between Berry Street and Wythe Avenue (G to Metropolitan Avenue, L to Bedford Avenue or Lorimer Street), $10
