Late yesterday afternoon, radio station WFUV announced a series of programming changes and cutbacks which will begin this Saturday (August 22). These changes include, on the minus side, the end of The Alternate Side, WFUV‘s alternate music channel, which was broadcast over WNYE (91.5 FM) and streamed via the WFUV website, and the end of WFUV‘s broadcasting the syndicated program Mountain Stage. On the plus side, WFUV will now carry its usual music programming on Saturday from 6am through 1pm. Additional changes include adding Alicia Ali, who formerly ram The Alternate Side, as the weekday 6-10pm DJ, moving Darren DeVivo to 10pm-2am and moving John Platt’s folk and Americana show from Sunday morning to Sunday late afternoon. You can see the full announcement from the station here.
Jeff Litman and his band played The Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 on Tuesday night. It was the show to celebrate the release of Jeff’s new EP, Primetime. Even though I’ve seen Jeff play many time previously and had already heard the new CD, this show took everything to the next level. The playing was crisp, there was no slack time between the songs and guitarist John Kengla was absolutely on fire. If you have a chance to see Jeff anytime soon, you should do so. And in any event, pick up Primetime, which is available at Jeff’s website and the other usual places on the web. It is a wonderful bunch of rock and power pop songs you’ll enjoy.
