Tonight: The Mekons at The Bowery Ballroom

The Mekons started out as a punk band in the 1970s, but over the past more than 30 years have expanded both their personnel and sound so that they play rock, punk, folk-rock, country and whatever else they feel like.  The Mekons are unabashedly political, and are unceasingly funny live.  If you have never seen The Mekons live, this is the time to do something about it (they have another show in Brooklyn on Thursday but it’s sold out!).

The MekonsBowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey St between Chrystie Street and The Bowery (F Train to Delancey Street, J or M Trains to Essex Street or Bowery), doors 8pm / show 9pm, $25

They will also be playing at Jalopy next week, but it’s already sold out. Someone who started out at our Thursday jams is headlining at Jalopy on Friday – Emma Morcroft.
