The Losers Lounge is a long running affair lead by Joe McGinty during which any number of regulars and guests pay tribute to an artist, back by the house band, The Kustard Kings (you get extra NYC trivia points if you knew that the band takes its name from an early 1960s competitor of Mr. Softee).
This time around, The Losers Lounge sets the Wayback Machine for the late 1970s. Songs from two fun and quirky bands, Devo and The B-52s, will be covered in a battle of the bands format. If you were around in the 70s and 80s, you know those songs, and if you weren’t this is the perfect way to get introduced to them. This edition of The Losers Lounge will be at Joe’s Pub from tonight through Saturday.
The Losers Lounge Battle of the Bands – Devo vs. The B-52s, Joe’s Pub, 425 Lafayette Street between Astor Place and E. 4th Street (R Train to 8th Street, 6 Train to Astor Place, B, D, F or M Trains to Broadway-Lafayette), 7pm, Thursday 6/11, 7pm and 9:30pm, Friday 6/12, 2pm, 6:30pm and 9pm, Saturday 6/13, $25 per show
