For years, Amy Rigby was a fixture on the New York music scene. At first she was in a cow punk band, but later rocked with the best of them (Linda Pitmon and Dave DeCastro of Steve Wynn and The Miracle Three were in Amy’s band before signing on with Steve). Even when Amy left NYC and lived in Nashville or Cleveland or Birmingham, she made sure to play NYC regularly.
About eight years ago, Amy moved to France and married Wreckless Eric. Together they put out three albums and toured every so often. But they finally left France and moved to New York State’s Hudson Valley.
Now, Amy and Eric, still together personally, have decided to go solo musically. And tonight, Amy plays the first of four Thursday night shows at Hi-Fi Bar in the East Village. Here’s what Amy says is in store for us:
Returning to the old neighborhood, the scene of “Summer Of My Wasted Youth” New York’s East Village, to play a solo residency at the hospitable HiFi Bar. Four nights, four entirely different sets of old songs, new songs; 6 & 12 strings; white keys, black keys & the occasional musical guest. FREE or pay what you wish – see you there
I would expect to see a musical guest (or two or three) tonight. And since Amy is working on a new album, a new song or two may yet appear.
