There’s only one rock band that writes and plays songs only about the national pastime. Of course that’s The Baseball Project. Tonight they’ll be playing Rough Trade in Williamsburg. The band includes Scott McCaughey, Steve Wynn, Linda Pitmon and appropriately for a band that sings about baseball, a platoon at first bass: either Peter Buck or Mike Mills. And if you go see the game at Citifield before the show, The Baseball Project is hoping that you’ll bring the deGromm garden gnome to Rough Trade. They note:
bring that gnome inside. We provide deGromm gnome babysitting and hope to see the stage littered with those suckers!
Spanking Charlene has been declared The Underground Garage’s Best Unsigned Band and their album Where Are The Freaks? was Now I’ve Heard Everything’s Best Album of 2012. When you put Charlene McPherson on vocals, Mo Goldner on guitar, David Leatherwood on bass, Eric Seftel on drums and add Eric Ambel on guitar, you get a combination of rock and punk reminiscent of The Ramones. Spanking Charlene will supply 100% of your minimum daily requirement of rock n roll. This show is at Fat Baby on the Lower East Side and will start at 9pm.
