The Baseball Project Strikes: The Baseball Project have been on tour in Florida over the past week. But not only have they been playing in clubs, they’ve been playing in spring training. Linda Pitmon threw out the first ball at a Twins v. Yankees game and Mike Mills did the same at a Mets v. Cardinals game.
Linda throws a number of pitches, taught to her by her dad, who played baseball in college. So when she was warming up on the sidelines and a Twins coach asked if she could throw a knuckle ball, she just reared back and tossed one.
Charlie Faye Records: Charlie Faye announced this week that she is getting ready to record her next record in Los Angeles starting in about two months. That new one will feature Charlie with The Fayettes backing her up. The music will draw on Charlie’s love of 60s girl group pop. That influence has shown up in Charlie’s music previously; just listen to Broken-Heart Maker and Obvious to Me from Travels with Charlie. Dave Way will be producing.
Misty Boyce is currently on a short solo tour of the West Coast: SF tonight and Berkeley tomorrow wrap it up. After that, she’ll back on the road in May as part of the band backing Joy Williams. Joy was part of the folk duo The Civil Wars a few years back. That tour will hit NYC mid May.
