The Choices sign is up which means that today offers many good music alternatives. There are early and late shows, Brooklyn and Manhattan shows and diverse musical styles to fit whatever mood you are in.
Today starts with an early show, at 5pm. Laura Cantrell will be playing her alt country and Americana music this afternoon at Pete’s Candy Store in Williamsburg. Laura’s great blend of old country and her own songs and her amazingly good voice make Laura’s shows hard to beat.
Later on tonight at 9:30, Sasha Dobson will step away from Puss n Boots to play a set with her own band at BAMCafe Live. Sasha’s song can run the gamut from rock to Americana to jazz. The BAMCafe can fill up, so get there early for the best seating opportunities.
Across the river on the Lower East Side, The Rockwood Music Hall will present (on their original stage) a pretty good double bill starting at 10pm. Up first will be Mieka Pauley who will bring her frank and fun songs to another weekend show at that club. Following her at 11pm will be long time Now I’ve Heard Everything favorite, Bryan Dunn, with a band introducing one brand new song, plus playing lots of his Americana and rock as well.
