Tonight, over at The Rockwood Music Hall, you’ll find two fun back to back shows to start the week. At 8pm, Julia Haltigan continues a series of duo shows with Emmet Haltigan. If you are a regular reader of Now I’ve Heard Everything, you are already familiar with the wide range of her her music: rock, r&b, latin rhythms, 40s and 50s pop and more. Emmet Haltigan plays mandolin and harmonica and happens to be Julia’s dad. Until recently, they played together in Julia’s band, which Julia has cut down and reconfigured recently. These shows bring these two wonderful musicians back together.
Then stay right where you are, because at 9pm David Luther and The Free Alternatives will take the stage. David’s main instrument is the saxophone (as you may note in the photo above), which he has called rock n roll’s original lead guitar. I would expect originals, old soul and funky stuff at tonight’s show. Joining David in the band tonight will be Al Street (guitar), Teddy Kumpel (guitar), Andy Hess (bass) and Rob Heath (drums).
