Here are two show for you to choose from as we wind the weekend down. You can head on down to the Lower East Side, where at the comfortable, homey Treehouse at 2A (that’s the second floor at 2A), Courtney Lee Adams Jr. will bring her trio tonight at 9pm. Courtney’s songs are world weary and wise. I think that the music of Tom Waits might be a good comparison. Courtney doesn’t play all that much, so take this opportunity to see her.
Or you can go to Fort Greene in Brooklyn and catch The Kennedys. This is a just scheduled gig at Putnam’s Pub Upstairs on Myrtle Avenue. Since last night’s Kennedys show consisted of only new songs coming from the three albums Pete and Maura will release in March, this show will be an all request show, so their fans can hear some Kennedys songs with which they would be familiar. The set gets going at 8pm, and the music will continue until 11pm.
Courtney Lee Adams Jr., Treehouse at 2A, 25 Avenue A between Houston and 2nd Streets (F Train to 2nd Avenue, use the 1st Avenue exit, F Train to Delancey Street or J Train to Essex Street), 9pm, No Cover (but a contribution for the musicians is highly encouraged)
