If you are a long time reader, you may remember Now I’ve Heard Everything’s coverage of Israel Nash. Israel left New York City a few years ago and has been touring, mostly in Europe, since then. Israel’s last two records made the Now I’ve Heard Everything Best Albums list in 2009 and 2011. His new one, Israel Nash’s Rain Plans, is a rock record which is languid and a bit psychedelic. It’s also a candidate for my Best of 2014 list.
Israel is back in town tonight along with a full band at The Mercury Lounge. It’s an early show, and Israel is opening for The Sons of Bill, a band I’ve yet to check out but about whom I’ve heard some good things.
Israel Nash (opening for The Sons of Bill), Mercury Lounge, 217 East Houston Street between Ludlow and Essex Streets (F Train to 2nd Avenue, use the 1st Avenue exit, F Train to Delancey Street or J Train to Essex Street), 8pm, $12
