News and Notes: Update on The Living Room

Freedy Johnston posted the following on his website recently:

Tuesday, September 16 – Brooklyn, NY

Caffè Lena in Brooklyn
The Living Room
-134 Metropolitan Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11249
9:00-9:15   Let’s call it a mini-gig. Looking forward to playing the new Living Room! Caffe Lena is coming to Brooklyn for one night with Then and Now, a night of stories and songs about this historic Saratoga Springs coffeehouse.  With Gary Novikoff, Sean Altman and lots of other folks. Entertainment begins at 7:00.

This event is part of the upcoming Brooklyn Book Festival and is listed on their website and on the Caffe Lena website as well.

I walked past 134 Metropolitan Avenue yesterday.  There are no signs yet posted there but a brand new building permit, shown below, dated August 29th, is now posted and work appeared to be going on.

As of 9:30am this morning, the New York State Liquor Authority web site is showing that the liquor license applications for The Living Room are still pending.

So all I know is that it looks fairly likely that The Living Room will be open next Tuesday at its new location in Williamsburg for one event, even if no liquor license has been granted  by that time.
