It’s been six months since there was anything to report about The Living Room, the music venue formerly located on Ludlow Street. Then, the owners of that club and a few supporters appeared before the SLA Review Committee of Brooklyn Community Board 1 in support of their liquor license at a new proposed location for The Living Room, 134 Metropolitan Avenue, in Williamsburg. At that time, the Committee asked The Living Room owners to show more support from area residents before it would approve their application.
There was a subsequent meeting on February 25, 2014, of the SLA Review Committee at which the license application of The Living Room was discussed. But there are no minutes of that meeting or any subsequent meeting of the full Community Board available on line.
However, there are a few developments today, though, that point towards the reopening of that club. Most importantly, on August 6th, The Living Room filed applications for licenses which would cover the bars at 134 Metropolitan Avenue. I have posted above the information available from the New York State Liquor Authority showing that the applications are pending.
I hesitate to guarantee that the Living Room will be reopening, or to guess when that might occur. But it certainly looks to me as if progress is being made on that reopening happening.
