Emmylou Harris not only likes to play New York City, she has a habit of doing for free. And so Emmylou will be doing so today, joined by Rodney Crowell. They’re touring behind their 2014 Grammy Award winning album Old Yellow Moon. This wonderful combination of Americana, country, and alt country will be presented at Lincoln Center Out of Doors at the Damrosch Park Bandshell. Robert Ellis, who is new to me, will be opening the show, and the host for the evening will be New York City’s own Laura Cantrell. Like any free event of this magnitude, getting there early will be the key to getting close to the stage and getting a seat. But if you can’t get out to see this show, you can stream it live by clicking here.
Once that show is finished, head down to Hill Country NY in Chelsea for another free show. There, at 10:30pm, Amy Black, another majorly talented Americana and alt country singer-songwriter will be playing a full band show. Amy’s recent album, This is Home, is wonderful and this show should be wonderful as well.
