Here are two shows tonight on the Lower East Side. They are timed such that you probably can see both of them.
First up at The Rockwood Music Hall at 9pm is Bucky Hayes. You name it, Bucky can do it, and if you name a local musician, it’s likely that Bucky has played with him or her. Bucky’s stock in trade is Americana and he’s a very good songwriter and an engaging performer.
Once Bucky finishes, make your way south on Allen Street and west on Delancey Street to The Bowery Ballroom. There you will find Jeremy Messersmith, whose set begins at 10pm. Jeremy is a story teller who plays rock and with velvety vocals. I first caught Jeremy at SXSW way back in 2010. A few months ago Jeremy sold out The Mercury Lounge, so folks have begun to discover him. Jeremy’s from Minneapolis, and is not here that often, so why not take this opportunity to see him.
Bucky Hayes, Rockwood Music Hall, 196 Allen Street between Houston and Stanton Streets (F Train to 2nd Avenue, use the 1st Avenue exit but note that there will be no train in either direction after 10pm), 9pm, No Cover (but a contribution for the musicians is highly encouraged)
Jeremy Messersmith, Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey St between Chrystie Street and The Bowery (F Train to Delancey Street but note that there will be no train in either direction after 10pm, J or M Trains to Essex Street or J Train to Bowery), 10pm, $15
