Here are some photos from five shows I’ve seen over the past week. Last night Lydia Loveless and her band played Webster Hall, where the lighting folks went crazy. Even so I was able to take a few shots while Lydia and her band rocked.
Don’t miss the photos of Jahn Xavier, Alejandro Escovedo, Ursa Minor and Deniz Tek after the jump.
Earlier last night, Jahn Xavier played a wonderful, soulful solo show at the Cafe at the Harley Davidson showroom on lower Broadway near Chinatown. Jahn played in front of a huge screen which ran videos (silent, of course) as he played. That changing background and my being in a bad spot to take photos made taking decent shots hard, but here are two that I like.
I just had my phone with me when I saw Alejandro Escovedo play The Bowery Electric on Monday night, and for most of Al’s set, I was stuck in a place where shooting a photo was impossible. But late in the show, I was able to get near the stage and took this. I posted it in Facebook, where it got a bunch of likes, including one from Al.
