There was a strangely named band on the schedule of The Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 last night. But with the place rather full, it seemed that people knew who was going to be playing. Right after 10pm, Norah Jones, Sasha Dobson and Catherine Popper took the stage. There was a short delay resulting from a technical problem: Sasha’s guitar wasn’t coming through and it resulted in a guitar mike being set up.
Once that was out of the way, Norah, Sasha and Catherine played their usual blend of country covers with Sasha on rhythm, Norah on lead and Catherine on bass. For the last several songs, Sasha left her guitar and moved over to drums. I think that the last real song was a sublime reading of Wilco’s Jesus, Etc. with Norah on lead vocals (there was a singing of Happy Birthday afterward). I believe it was Catherine that closed the show by saying “now that we’ve rehearsed, let’s do this again in two weeks.”
