Tonight: Robbie Fulks at The Mecury Lounge

If you don’t know Robbie Fulks you should.  Call him country, alt country or whatever.  He plays a mean guitar and writes funny, clever and yes, even poignant songs.   If you read his blog, you’ll find that he’s probably one of the most literate musicians anywhere. Don’t just take my word for it.  The New York Times noted:

But what really sets him apart is his songwriting, which is one part artful country, one part artful sendup of country and one part a little of everything else.

Robbie is based in Chicago and only gets to New York a couple of times a year, so take this opportunity to see him.  Tonight’s show will feature Robbie in a duo format with Robbie Gjersoe.

Robbie Fulks, Mercury Lounge, 217 East Houston Street between Ludlow and Essex Streets (F Train to 2nd Avenue, use the 1st Avenue exit, F Train to Delancey Street or J or M Trains to Essex Street), 7:30pm, $15
